Mr. Wang Daohan and Town and Talent
Dr. Kenny Lin, CEO of Town and Talent Technology 2005/12/25
In the Christmas night, I received a phone call from Professor Zhou Jianming from Shanghai Social Science Institute telling me Mr. Wang Daohan passed away. At that time, the scenes of the Christmas five years ago recurred in my mind. I have been felt grateful for this philosopher, because without him, there would not be Town and Talent of today.

In the morning of Christmas day of 2000, Mr. Sayling Wen accompanied by his seven schoolmates including me of Taiwan University Electronic School visited Mr. Wang in Shanghai Jin Jiang Hotel. With this opportunity, I talked about the stories at Yellow Sheep River to Mr. Wang, and that was the first time Mr. Wen heard of the idea of using internet to connect impoverished western regions with the eastern ones. Mr. Wang expressed consent with encouragement and that was the initiating of the project. Afterward, the mode of Yellow Sheep River became an indispensable part of Mr. Wen's grand plan of Completion of Developing the West in Ten Years, and Mr. Wen established Town and Talent Technologies Co., Ltd, promoting the project of Town and Talent, a new mode called Charity Deeds Leading to Business Opportunities, provoked by the western compatriots' impoverishment, backwardness and ignorance of digital technologies.
After Mr. Wen passed away, in Shanghai I visited Mr. Wang who had been in hospital. Although he had had difficulties in moving, he could see and hear clearly and was still keen witted and cared about the progress of Town and Talent. This year, after the establishment of the International Convention Meeting Center at Yellow Sheep River, Mr. Wang, although could not come to Yellow Sheep River for his weak health, sent a tablet which was my requirement, with his inscription of Yellow Sheep River International Convention Meeting Center and his signature. The tablet has become the Center's most prominent mark which symbolizes Mr. Wang's care about the West and the desire for the peace of the cross-strait.
It was very regretful that Mr. Wang left us, but his perseverance, far-sightedness and contribution to the improvement of cross-straight relationship as well as the development of the west will be remembered by all of us forever and inherited by his successors.
