Clothes donated to schools in Gulang

On June 28, a van with a banner writing Donation by Town and Talent hung on its body left for the most impoverished schools in Gulang County for a clothes donation ceremony organized elaborately by Town and Talent Gulang Digital Center and supported by Department of Education of Gulang County.

Gulang Digital Center had managed to draw attention of the benefactors all over the country to the living condition of the students in the western backward areas via the BBS on www.yellowsheepriver.com and other internet contact ways for the past several months. With the effort of many people, benefactors from Wuhan, Shanghai, etc have donated more than 5,000 pieces of clothes. The clothes were sent to Guland by mail packs. In the packs from Shanghai, there is children dress made by some anonymous girls. To make the students have different types of clothing, the employees of Gulang Digital Center assorted the clothes.?????

To support the activity, Department of Education of Gulang County allocated vehicles. We were welcomed by teachers and students in each station, Gulang Shimen Primary School, Hengliang Wanquan Primary School, Hengliang Center Primary School, Xinbao Primary School and Nianjiajing Primary School. Seeing the children’s pleased smile, we really felt very happy and wanted to do more things for them.

In the donation ceremony, Mr.Zhang, the director of Department of Education of Gulang County again extended his gratitude for the support of Town and Talent and Digital Center to the development of local education in these years and he expressed that they wanted to have closer cooperation with Digital Center in caring and helping the children.

When we came to Nianjiajing Primary School, the last station of the donation, we were shocked by what we saw. If not led by the leaders of the Department of Education, we could not believe it was a school. Surrounded by a toppled wall, the school even has no gate. The only thing that could prove its identity was the worn national flag. There were only three classrooms. Two grades shared one of them. The ping-pong table is the only PE equipment. The school only had 4 temporary teachers for 77 students. Even the reading room was not available.

The school felt very grateful for the donation. The Digital Center promised to establish a reading room for them in a few months. Although the donation is temporary, it is the beginning of the caring activities.

It shows that there are so many people are paying attention to the west of China.We believe that with help and support from Town and Talent and educational organs in Gulang we will attract more attention from the society to promoting healthy development of the children in the backward areas.
