【Travel with love】
The volunteers of Eden Social Welfare Foundation (ESWF) worked as summer teachers in Xi’datan Middle School of Gansu Province. Because Xi’datan Middle School is located on 3000m high altitude mountain, the volunteers had to overcome mountain sickness and get used to no bath.
In last Aug, Mr. Zhu Yong-xiang came to Xi’datan Middle School for three times, where he found the teaching resources and facilities out of date. He decided to launch a volunteer’s visit to this school in the summer and also collected 240,000 to help the school building dormitory and coal boiler.
【The wheelchair boy-Hekun】
The volunteers of Eden Social Welfare Foundation (ESWF) climbed 3200m high altitude snow-capped mountain to visit a wheelchair boy-Hekun. They brought him a gift that was a new wheelchair. One year ago, Hekun got serious illness, and from then on, he had no chance to go out. Because of lying in bed for long time, his feet were distorted and he couldn’t speak a word. Today, he sat on the wheelchair to enjoy the sunshine outside the house. He was so pleased that everyone could feel his good emotion.
Among the volunteers, there was a professional therapist. After learning He’s physical situation, he told He’s grandma to do stench exercise for him everyday, otherwise He’s feet would become even worse.
When volunteers prepared to leave He, they found blood on the wheelchair. That was due to He lying on bed for too long and the skin of buttock was rotten. The family was too poor to see a doctor. The grandma had to weep the blood by toilet paper.
The grandma also told us that He could have lunch and speak in the past. However, his illness got more serious due to no money for medical treatment. She hoped her grandson can become healthy in the future. The volunteers promised the grandma to offer as much help as possible and try their best to cure He’s illness.
【The prospect of Xi’datan Middle School】
In 2007 Cyber Fair, the students of Xi’datan Middle School designed a website called “The Wonderful Huarui Tibetan Culture” and got the golden prize. In such a poor place, there is no blacktop. You may wonder how they can use computer. That’s because Mr. Wen Sayling, the previous vice board chairman of Inventec.
Before his death, Wen worked out a “Town and Talent” project, planning to cultivate 10,000 talents in 1,000 remote mountain areas. Yellow Sheep River Town, not far from Xi’datan, was the first stop of “Town and Talent” project. In the past, it was poor and backward, and now it becomes prosperous.
What’more, Town and Talent Technologies planned to set a vocational middle school in Yellow Sheep River, where students can get to use Internet and change the destiny of their life. In 3000m high altitude mountain, students’ vision is blocked by the natural limitation, but now they can view the world on the internet.
