In Feb 18 of 2007, two administrators, Mr. Chen, from Xia’si Primary School and Mr. Wen from Shanyang Vocational Education Center came to Tianjin to participate in training program of TTT remote employment. Two teachers were the first remote employers.
After one-week training program, two teachers signed employment document with TTT, which required the employers to finish the work in time and upload on the internet. After checking, the salary would be paid through post system.
The Remote Employment aims at outsourcing of brain-works to talents in impoverished areas: to seek and supply the most suitable and qualified part-time or contract professionals for enterprises located outside this region. The required task is normally carried out and successfully completed by the contracted staff in the region. Through the East-West Interconnect platform the faraway employer not only gets the final products delivered as promised, but is also able to supervise the whole process.
Different from Talents Mobilization from West to East, this project is characterized by transferring brain power rather than personnel, which is conducive for the development of western regions and shortening distances between China west and east. As one of the “East-West Interconnect” projects, the features of Remote Employment are: transferring brain power, completing required task in remote place, keeping talents in their hometowns, creating knowledge-based wealth, improving local living standards and maintaining local culture.
This was the trial of remote employment. If it went on smoothly, TTT decided to increase the number of remote employers and enlarge the business scope.
