Hu Wanlong and His Students
After Yellow Sheep River Vocational Secondary School had computer classroom,
Hu became more well-known. Both of the students and teachers were attracted
by the mystery of the computer. He could be often seen patiently teaching
and showing how to operate the computer. After Town and Talent established,
Hu kept himself busy working at the activities. Both the employers of
Town and Talent and his villagers knew that he did all of these for his
hometown.
At the beginning of a term, Hu received a name list of three students
who unable to pay the tuition, which was he had been worried about. He
knew he had to visit the families. Before each term, many students in
Yellow Sheep River Vocational Secondary School can not return school for
having no money for tuition. Teachers visit and persuade the parents to
try their best, but mostly the result turns out a failure. Thinking of
the three students, Hu really had no courage to visit their families.
One of them was Chen Bin whose father died when he was two and his mother
remarried. From then on he lived with his grandma. Another was Tian Daxiang
who was adopted by a couple over 60. One of the old couple got mental
problem. Their dwelling was built in 1952 and the roof was lost shape.
The third one was Han Canyun whose father carried coal on back for others.
The long time hard work caused lung disease. The worse thing was he had
other two boys also facing with dropping out. As he was worried and found
no way out, Qi, a journalist, came to visit him. They talked about the
three students and thought they should find a solution. After a careful
consideration, they decided to visit Chen Ming, the general manager of
the International Convention Center. After Chen heard of the three students’
stories, he took out 900 yuan to Hu saying the children must not drop
out.
As Hu told the good news to Chen Bin’s grandma over 70, she was so grateful
that she got her knees down before him. That moment strongly impressed
Hu. It was worth doing more things for these people.
