Yinjinmin, the teacher on the history and politics, once told us that: xingwei city is built by the lideming, the father of liyuanhao, the first emperor of western xia kingdom. In the Feb. of spring A.D 1024 , li deming decided that the xingwei city as Dingzhou. As one fort fighting with Song dynasty and preparing for building the country, in the eastern part of western xia. All the building show the characters of dangxiang group, that is, all the wall and building are built by the mud instead of brick and tile. The wall is built in the yellow sand, the roof in mud, the house rounded by the mud.
The ancestor of the western emperor is tuobasigong, who once be famous for the fighting with the farmers campaign led by huangchao in Tang dynasty. He was named by the tanghui king as Li , and his father and grandfather was also hired in important position. Liuyuanhao, the military talent, didn’t agree with his father as the subofficial. He name his own as wei fa, and call himself as “ Kehai” ( emperor). Lideming named his city in wei, which is his ancestor name(dangxiang group name). we can see his thinking deeply in union.
There is also another legend. It is said that xingwei city was named by liyuanhao’s first failure. Liyuanhao win all his fighting both in the eastern and western. But he failed once owing to carelessness. He withdraw to one small city with great embarrassment. He wrote a article to recall his failure in thousands words, and also named this city in xingwei city. “Xing” means thinking; “wei” stands for his own. Because liyuanhao ‘s literary’s name is started with xing as initial one. So this small city was named as xingwei city.
