Subject We are a special team
Activity I am very glad to join the team. Since I am more convenient to get access to internet, I will be responsible for conveying the latest information of Cyber Fair, arranging time and looking for some material. Teachers and students are mainly responsible for collecting local information and interview. We will study how to build a website together. I will contact you by email and telephone. It is a pity that I can not join you for the interview for the long distance. But I believe we can make it!

Subject Informed of taking part in Cyber Fair and team formation
Activity This morning, we saw the notice for Cyber Fair on Town and Talent website. We instantly reported this to the headmaster and teachers. The teachers were required to select subjects according to the Cyber Fair’s requirements and prepare to take part in it. Our team is called “Xia.Tian”(Xia means summer; Tian means sky), which includes seven people: two teachers in Taole No.1 Secondary School , four students and a staff-Mr Liu in Town and Talent Technologies.

Subject Set our subject
Activity After a few days of discussion, we get rid of subjects concerning tourism, nationality, famous person and local special things for their possible similarity to other participants’ subjects. However, the Binggou tombs of Han Dynasty are a valuable relic and treasure of our country. Thus we decide “entering Binggou” as our subject.

Subject Interviewing the Headmaster Yan
Activity Although we have set our subject, we know a little about Binggou. This afternoon, we interviewed our headmaster, who told us that Binggou was an important military defense since Qin Dynasty. At that time, Han people and Xiongnu always had conflict. In Han Dynasty, that place became a war field, that was the formation of tombs. He also asked us to do research of historical records.

Subject Make friends with the general manager of Binggou Tourist Zone-Mr Zhao
Activity In the process of getting together with old classmates, I got to know-Mr Zhao, the general manager of Binggou Tourist Zone. When I told him that our school decided to choose Binggou as the subject of participating Cyber Fair, he was very happy and welcomed us to visit.

Activity When we entered Mr Zhao’s office, he asked us that how much we needed to do this research. If we need investment, I would consider it again. We told him that we did not need any money and our research was to publish local culture. Then, he decided to support our research as much as possible.

Subject Calling Mr Zhao
Activity Binggou Site was restored in recent years, in which the architecture style made us confused. Although we read a lot of books, we still couldn’t find the answer. Then we remembered that Mr Zhao had participated in the entire development of Binggou Site, who must know a lot about it. After calling him, we got to know that the architecture style belonged to Qin Dynasty.

Subject The encouragement from Ningxia TV Station and Newspaper
Activity A journalist in Ningxia Newspaper ever interviewed us about participating in Cyber Fair. This afternoon, we received a letter from this journalist, who encouraged us to do our best in this international competition.

Subject Shoulder to shoulder
Activity As we chose the category “historical landmark”, we find our report difficult to write. Our teacher put forward a suggestion that everyone wrote down his idea about a question and then pick out the essential part, which could combine a good essay. Working like small ants, we believed that we could do our best as long as we united together.

Activity In our school’s Culture and Art Festival, we showed our display panels about Binggou Site, on which there were photos and word explanations. After seeing our exquisite panels, many students wanted to visit Binggou in Oct holiday.

Subject Assistance from our librarian
Activity In making a web site about historical landmark, we need to do a lot of research on information collection. We were busy with our study, only in weekends; we had time to search data. However, our school’s library closed in weekend. When the librarians-Miss Yin and Miss Chen got to our situation, they actively found out the books we needed in their spare time. If we needed some books urgent, we just called them and then everything was OK. Thanks to their help, we saved a lot of time.

Subject Encouragement from Town & Talent Technologies
Activity In our school’s Culture and Art Festival, several staff of Town & Talent Technologies including Mr Zeng, Mr Li and Miss Cui and other officials came to visit our school and see our display panels. Subject Popularization of Binggou’s history
Activity Most people in Taole County knew about the Binggou Site; however, only a few knew its history, especially in the village. Our teachers classified and typed the information of Binggou and scheduled to popularize in village on Sunday. After we reached destination, we began to send our material to villagers and told them the stories about Binggou. They listened to our words seriously.

Activity It was difficult to do a research about historical landmark, such as Binggou Site. In order to learn the historical background of it, our teacher went to Yinchuan to buy some history books including “The Historical Records” by Si Ma-qian.

Subject Asking Mr Ma for advice
Activity In material collection, we found the geographical knowledge very hard. Our instructor asked us to ask for Mr Ma-a geographical teacher in our school, who was kind and knowledgeable. We recorded our own questions in material collection and put forward to him. He answered it one by one. When talking about the formation of the Grand Binggou Valley, he proposed his own opinions about the transformation of local landform. His explanation laid a basic foundation for us to learn Binggou’s geography.

Subject Asking Miss Shi for advice
Activity Binggou Site had a history over 2000 years. With a series of questions, we asked our historical teacher-Miss Shijing for advice, who took out a lot of historical record and maps, explaining contemporary social situation, economical and diplomacy condition. We got to know the origin of Hunhuaizhang and many other things. Being local people, we felt quite shamed about our ignorance of Binggou’s history.

Subject Popularizing Binggou’s history to people in communities
Activity There was a bazaar today. Our teacher and team members pasted our self-made newspapers about Binggou’s history on bill boards. Then we retreated and waited for people’s reaction to our newspaper. In a short time, some people came to read it. Someone said that the edition was exquisite and the content was rich. Someone said that he didn’t know so much history about Binggou until reading our newspaper. Hearing these words, we felt very happy.

Subject Group discussion
Activity In material collection, we had a debate about vegetation and animals in Binggou area. Some people thought that since yellow sheep and wolves had disappeared, we should not mention it in our web pages. However, others thought that these species were part of history in Binggou, we should refer to them. After warm discussion, we decided to mention them in our project and mainly introduce its characteristics.

Subject Searching diversifolious poplar
Activity The diversifolious poplar is a rare species in Binggou area. We went to Binggou Forest to take pictures of it. Mr Shi Zhan-jun(the forest guard) showed way for us and told us many things about this plant. We walked for quite a long way and finally we saw this species.
