Interview with Mr. Xu Shaoquan
Born in 1962, he lives in Tianquan County of Sichuan Province. He has been grazing goats for a very long time from which he earns his living. He is very experienced in grazing goats. It is just his goats that are eaten by the panda. Then he makes a report to Forestry Bureau and makes his own contribution to protecting the panda with some experts and leaders. For the past decade, he has had deep affections towards the mountain, the plants and animals. And he has also prevented for several times the hunting of animals and made his contributions to protecting the animals.

Questions and answers
1. When did you start to graze the goats on Longgang Mountain?
Xu: I have been grazing the goats here for more than ten years. I like animals and plants very much. I also raise some cats and dogs at home.

2. How do you feel when your goats are eaten?
Xu: I feel rather afraid because I have never thought there is such a cruel animal on the mountain. I also feel regretted for the seven kid goats which were just born.

3.What’s your feeling when you get to know the panda is the murderer?
Xu: When I get to know the goats are eaten by the panda which is the national treasure, I feel very happy instead of angry. The panda is living around us. I feel very delighted to see the panda. Many experts and journalists come to my home showing great concern towards the panda. I also record the panda eat goats for more than ten minutes. What is strange is that when I am alone at home, the panda will come; while when other people are also present, the panda will not come.

4. Do you agree with the ideas of experts reported on the Internet?
Xu: I do not quite agree with them, because I think the panda eats bamboo and is a kind of meek animal rather than cruel animal. It may be a rare case this time. Not all the pandas eat goats. In my opinion, the panda is a lovely animal.

5. As the panda eats your goats, maybe other farmers also have the similar experiences. What do you think of protecting panda and protecting personal belongings?
Xu: It is a little hard to say. Anyway, the panda is the national treasure and we should protect it. As for the goats, I think it may be a rare case this time. I like the panda very much and prepare some grains and apples for it. I also give a name Beibei to the panda.

6. Do you know why the panda eats goats?

Xu: I think it is winter and the panda may need more energy.

7.Does the panda still come now?

Xu: It does not come now. I think it wants to come and I also want it to come and raise it. However, the experts in Forestry Bureau tell me to make the panda live by itself in the nature. I still remember that day we lighted some firecrackers to make the panda go away. At first, it did not move. After a long time, it went away while turning around to see after several steps. At last, it disappeared in the forest.
