The blossom of bamboo will result in the death of panda?

In the spring and winter of 1976, there were 138 dead pandas found in some places of Gansu and Sichuan. According to the research, the death of panda resulted from the blossom of bamboo and scarity of food.

Before people found time to make further investigations, in the early of 1980s, there was blossom of Lengjian Bamboo in Qionglai Mountain. From the previous lesson, some people said that due to the blossom and withering of bamboo which was the food resource of panda, pandas would die because of scarity of food. ”

　　At that time, in Wolong Conservative Area, besides Lengjian Bamboo, there were another kind of bamboo – Huaju Bamboo which was also eaten by pandas. Researchers found that pandas ate Huaju Bamboo and there were no dead pandas during the period.

　　When one kind of bamboo is in blossom, pandas can find other food resources. Even if there is only kind of bamboo in the area and there is blossom of the bamboo, pandas can still find some bamboos which is not in blossom to eat.

　　Researchers find that the amount of bamboo that are eaten by pandas in a year is less than two percent of the amount of bamboo in the area. Therefore, the blossom of bamboo will not be the main reason of the death of pandas.

Conclusion: The blossom of bamboo will not result in the death of pandas.
