Wheelchair of Loving Heart
July 15th 2007, it was a nice and sunny
day and flo wers
were blossoming in the Xia Ma Prairie. That morning,
with the company of our school’s teachers,
volunteers brought a wheelchair and went to the deep
mountain. The reason for this was that a paralyzed
boy HE Kun was living there. HE Kun couldn’t move
because of his
illness and lost his ability to speak lately. When
they saw the purulence and blood caused
by HE Kun’s decubitus, the volunteers cried. They
promised to try their best to help HE Kun. Their
loving heart and promise comforted HE Kun’s family a
lot. After they came back to our school, the
volunteer leader, ZHU Yongxiang, gave our principal
YANG Baoling another wheelchair and asked him to
give it to people in need.
Volunteers had a farewell party with our school at
the seventh night, had
a picnic in the Maomao Mountain on the eighth day,
and left our school in the ninth morning. During
those days, EDEN volunteers taught Math, English,
Nature, Astronomy, Hygiene Education, Music, Sports,
and Team Games
for students from seventh grade to ninth grade. They
taught more than 600 hours of formal classes and
tutored more than 300 hours of self study classes.
In addition, every EDEN volunteer group donated
school supplies before they left. And on the behalf
of EDEN Foundation, the first and the third group
respectively donated 12,000 RMB, totally 24,000 RMB.
