In the summer of 2006, staff of EDEN Foundation came
to our school accidently. However, after this
meeting, EDEN Foundation became closely connected to
our school and helped our school’s development.
Since summer of 2007, EDEN Foundation has organized
volunteering teaching for our school, three years in
row, and the number of volunteers is more than 240.
EDEN Foundation also helped us with material
donations. Our website is to record their work and
our gratitude.
•
Our
Internet environment:
We access internet by phone line with 1M bandwidth.
•
We have
encountered and overcome challenges:
1.lack
of experience.
2.lack
of technique support. 3.lack
of time
•
Proverbs experience:
As long as you put your heart into your work, you’ll
succeed.
3、Thematic elements of research projects
The goals and objectives:
•
Our research can help us to remember every loving
journey EDEN Foundation made to Da Xi Tan and to
record our school’s story with EDEN as a historical
document. On the other hand, it will help students
and teachers in our school to know EDEN better and
to understand the greatness of the love across
Taiwan Strait. Our research can also be seen as a
development of school course. The research result
can be content of our school’s course.
•
Tools: phone, digital camera, scanner, computer,
books, survey, field interview.
•
We use camera to record important moments; We use
internet to get information; we use computer to make
the website; we use field interviews to get the
first-hand materials.
•
We use internet resources, computer, camera to carry
out our research plans.
•
Mr. SHEN Yu from Shanghai donated a digital camera
for us
•
The most valuable resources are digital devices and
computers.
•
Computer technology is most useful because it has
irreplaceable advantages, such as amazing
calculating speed, convenient information searching
and management.
The student representatives in this monographic
research are ambassadors from different local
regions. They are responsible for introducing local
characteristics to the world. Could you please tell
me how you play the role of “ambassador” by
contacting individuals and organizations?
•
In order to finish this research, we visited and
interviewed lots of teachers and students. They were
very interested in our research and gave us lots of
support and coordination. They said it was a great
thing to do that we could tell the world about Xiama
and about our hometown’s unique culture.
What kind of influence and impact does this
monographic research give to you?
suggestions:
•
How does this monographic research change your
hometown?
Our monographic research plan leads us to explore
our school’s cultural resources which we could use
to cultivate students and influence society.
•
Can local people learn new things from your website?
Our monographic research will help local people to
know better about our school culture and let them
realize the broader communication between Da Xi Tan
Middle School and outside world. And through this
communication, they can see more about the outside
and the outside can know more about Da Xi Tan, the
beautiful village in the deep mountain. This is a
win-win action.
•
Can foreigners in the outside world gain some new
things about your hometown from your website?
As long as they can go over our website, foreign
friends will gain new understandings of my hometown.
In their eyes, Da Xi Tan won’t be a remote,
isolated, pretty village any more. Instead, Da Xi
Tan is a new countryside with its strong steps to
change its poverty.
•
Do you build up new relations with local people?
Local people from different fields gave us lots of
support. They admired our spirit to communicate with
outside. They want to see that through our efforts
our hometown can become a better place.
•
What kind of people else once looked over you
website? What kind of responses you got?
There
are students from Nankai University, Northwest
Normal University, Gansu Ethnic Normal College who
were volunteering teachers in our school. And other
friends paid attention to our school for a long
time. They also introduced our website to their
friends. Through our website, they know more about
Xiama Culture and want to visit Xiama Region more.
•
What kind of people did your monographic research
help? How?
In
the process of our research, we helped local
villagers to take pictures and copy materials. And
we also helped new students in our school to know
more about the previous communication activities.
Discovery, lessons, and surprise
• Do
you have any interesting finding? What lessons do
you learn? Or do you feel surprised by the results
of this monographic research?
Through
