Sort of Quyi

Though Sanxian is the most important musical instrument in Qinghai Quyi, different tunes are used in different programs, such as Pingxian, Yuexian and Xiaxian. The tunes of Yuexian are C G C.

Yuexian was originated in Shanxi Province in Qing Dynasty. That is why some artists have Shanxi dialects in singing Yuexian. With the development for a long period, the lyrics and music changes dramatically. Some tunes are abandoned, while some are created.

Yuexian is the most popular Quyi program in Qinghai Province. Even in Han habitation area, you can see Yuexian regularly. Most Yuexian performers sit in the middle of the stage. In order to give a beautiful artistic impression and create a sense of intimacy with the audience, the artists should have strong skills in speech, acting and singing, and outstanding powers of imitation.
