Start built in yongzheng 5th year ( 1727), the old street reached its peak at democratic China(1924) in the trading. It was also known as “small Beijing” for its more than 1000 shops and industries with total investment over 5 millions liang. In recent dozens of years, owing the multiple development of economy and culture, especially the high speed development of traffic, the center of huangyuan commercial center has shift southernward, with this trend, the old street no longer was the trading center, and the shop changing to the household. Now the old street is in 802 meters in full length. Most of the building has rebuilt by brick and cements, losing its original taste. Many paints needs the restore badly. Because all of these problems, in order to keep on the prosperity of the old street and to develop the local economy, the huangyuan government made the decision to restore the street to protect the historic and cultural site.
We interviewed the county planning bureau officer, Chao shiming, in order to know the current status in details.

一、old street current status anylasis.

1. The spacious analysis　　

It has enjoyed long history. Its forming and development has close relations with huangyuan county development. From ancient time to nowadays, though it has been undergoing big change with the times goes by, its importance as the important part of huangyuan old street and the gathering of the folk huangyuan, as well as the historic culture value remains unchanged.

1. the traditional formation remains and reflected on the street, lanes.
2. The sign building are still on, such as chenghuang temple , wen temple , guandi temple and huozu temple, which are all cultural building nowadays.
3. The general space and main part of the building are still there.
4. Most of the old building are ruined and waiting for restore.

二、the land use current analysis.

In this area, the land is main for using and administrative, healthy area and commercial land and provincial relic using.
It mainly has the chenghuang temple, wen temple, huangyuan county serving for party school, government, huangyuan people hospital, huangyuan measuring bureau, and 1st primary school.
If we take the huangyuan as the historic area, it also has many problems. Mainly:

1. the quality of the building normally is poor.
2. Traffic is inconvenient with lacking of parking area.
3. The grassland and spacious room is lack.
4. Uncomplete infrastructure will affected the life, shopping and untidy.
5. Over population, and poor selfdevelopment ability will be the main factor of the poor of physical environment.
