dance
"Huishou
dance" is the starting program in Nadun, and is a mass collective
dance which scores of and even several hundred people participate in,
the participators are in the sequence from old to young. Generally the
old man that wears gown, holds a fan in hands and dances at the head is
the organizer or Nadun and the successor of Nadun dance. Though he is
over sixty years old and wears silver beard before his breast, he still
dances in vigorous strides, naturally and freely. The young people and
children follow him in sequence. Accompanying with the rhythms of drums
and gongs, all the people step, sway the body, move from left to right
and dance by circling the ground, the dancers' posture and movements are
graceful, the atmosphere is warm and the scene is magnanimous and grand.
At the head is the organizer or Nadun the successor of Nadun dance, who
has a steel sword in the left hand and fan in the right hand. The followings
are the soldiers, who are in charge of beating drums and raising flags.The
basic action of Huishou dance is to play Taiji, two arms circle, feet
steps raise and fall freely and naturally. The drum beaters quicken the
rhythms when two groups meet. The participants can stand in a line, or
separate into groups. After the performance, they circle the divine table.
