“Dragon Sop up Water”- in Jul and Aug, especially in rainy days, a strange phenomenon called “Dragon Sop up Water” appears on Qinghai Lake. You can see a column of water gets into the lake, which is like a dragon sopping up water. This phenomenon ever appeared in 1970 and 2003. On Sep 9th, 2003, this strange phenomenon was filmed by a journalist-Zhang Zhongliang of Shenzhen Special Zone Newspaper. It was sunny in that morning. At 10:40, a large scale of dark cloud gradually approached the lake surface. When it was on its half way, suddenly a large water column was formed. Black mirage rose up to the sky. The mirage and dark cloud combined in the sky, from thin to thick, from light to dark. The view was quite splendid. After ten minutes, it gradually disappeared. Seven or eight minutes later, the same phenomenon appeared at two places which were at the northeastern direction of former one. About 11:30, the whole process finished. The whole phenomenon lasted 30 minutes
