Laxiwa Hydropower Station construction was began since October 2001, the investment China Power Group which is one of the five domestic power generation groups only takes 90 months to build the largest hydropower station in the first generating units and put into operation,this is a miracle in the history of Chinese hydropower construction.

The first set of Laxiwa Hydropower Station groups were turning with the strong water flow, hydropower people in the Yellow River are working with their own sweat, wisdom and youth, stirring in the Qinghai Tibet Plateau gorges.

On August,1978, the first class surveyors came to Lawaxi dam area.

Early in 1987, started into the initial design of dam

On November, main workshop section started to dig.

On January, the main river was cut off

On June 2004, dam abutment started to dig

On Apirl 2006, dam concrete was pouring,

On July 2006, the pouring of concrete for main workshop started

In 2008, the flywheels, stator and wankel engine of the first water turbine started hoisting,

On April 2009, two units generated electricity
