Interview with Villager Wu Qunying in Qingquan Village, Puyang Town
S: Hello, Aunt Wu. We are the team members to attend web design competition. Can we ask you some questions about the Dujiangyan Project?
W: My pleasure.
S: Are the bamboo cages used in the Dujiangyan Project still used today in the village?
W: Certainly. There are always big rains in every summer, so people put these bamboo cages in the river to discharge the water.
Interview with Miss Chen who works in the community
S: Hello, Miss Chen. We are the team members to attend web design competition. Can we ask you some questions?
C: Of course.
S: There is Water Releasing Festival at Qingming Day every year. Would you like to tell us the historical value of the festival?
C: One of the activities in the festival - throwing of bamboo cages filled with pebbles into the river has important historical value, and the display of ancient farming tools is the proof of our farming culture that has lasted for more than 2000 years.
S: And what are the scientific values of the festival?
C: This festival is based on the famous Dujiangyan Project which is the world's oldest and only damless project that is still functioning and has become one of the world cultural heritages by UN.
S: Is there any other functions of the festival?
C: Besides some experiences about discharge of the water, this folk activity has also research values on hydro engineering, climate, trade, agricultural techniques and technologies of making of bamboo cages. |
