Cangxi is located on the north of Sichuan Basin, on the south of Qinba Mountains, in the middle section of Jialingjiang River, totally covering 2,330 square kilometers. There are 39 towns, comprising of 718 villages, 71 residents' committees and 780,000 people. North of the county is the ancient hometown of the Queen, east is South Banan area, west is the Sword Gate and south is the ancient city Langyuan, overwhelmingly controlling mountains and the important rivers. It has got the fame of “a protecting screen of Sichuan.” There has been over 1,700 years since Tai Kang Emperor in West Jin Dynasty built a county here, which was nicknamed as a fertile place in north Sichuan. This was a remarkable place producing outstanding people and scenic spots. For example, in the Han Dynasty Qiao Xuan gave the best answer of the antithesis to a given phrase in the emperor's palace, in Southern Song Dynasty Wang Yue got the first prize in the national examination, Wang Ji was famous for his gaining eight presented scholars in a total of nine examinations, three martyrs were forever remembered by people who died in the Revolution of 1911, Du Fu saw off guests in Linjiang temple, Lu You frequently dreamed of coming back to Cangxi, in the Three Kingdoms Zhang Fei and Zhang He had a fierce fight in Wakouzai Village, in Southern Song Dynasty soldiers faught against the Yuan People and successfully won the town, Congxia Tower and the Xunle Shuyan of deep ancient rhymes. The cultrual sense here is thick and the people are simple and honest. There are various wonderful folk arts here, such as calling the horse to cut paper, lantern drama in north Sichuan, as well as the well-known legends like the pure lady chiselling out a stream and firing the beast. The Buddhas left down their spirits in Yuntai Mountain, and the devout followers found their trace in West Wudand, demonstrating the ancient and long standing of the Taoism culture. Also the courtyard culture was well-known through out the whole country.
