Project purpose:
In China, dragon boat race is very popular in many provinces. In Guangyuan City, we have a special program, which is phoenix boat race. In Phoenix Boat Race, a group of female paddlers team must row together to move their elaborate boat at top speed. This traditional Chinese competition is an ideal springboard for a teamwork lesson. The standard competition is equipped with phoenix head, end, drummer, and paddlers. The first Phoenix Boat Invitational Race means that this competition has become national, even world wide. The Daughter Festival in Guangyuan is also a kind of intangible cultural heritage. We hope to let more people know our tradition and folk culture through our work.
Plan to use IT:
(1) Hardware facilities: computer, digital camera, recorder, scanner, flash disk, scanner.
(2) Computer software: Dreamweaver for webpage editing, Photoshop for graphic processing, Microsoft Word for textual information editing, Outlook Express for receiving and sending mails, Internet Explorer for browsing website, ACDSee for image browsing, CuteFTP for transmitting information.
(3) Internet: E-mail, message board, FTP server, broad-bank network.
Project conclusion:
Through this study the topic, let students know more about Phoenix Boat Race competitive sports activities. After the study, Phoenix Boat Race understand the whole process, the students are even more willing to participate in sports activities in such places to (only regret is that the relentless flood washed away the only air-Feng Zhou, we do not have independent Fung is zoned to experience the whole process of the boat). And through this event, students in the campus made some publicity, led more students to understand him, or even like him. For local sports culture to inherit and carry forward.
Our experience:
This is the first time we participate in the Cyber Fair. The supervising teachers and the team members lack previous experience in webpage construction. We have to consult others whenever difficulties arise; hence, we have to overcome all kinds of hardships and difficulties during the process. We set our subject as Daughter Festival & Phoenix Boat Race. We mainly introduce the sports program during the Daughter Festival. At the end of Aug, students participated in phoenix boat race training. On Sep 1, they watched sports event on television. At the end of Sep, they search pictures and material in their spare time and wrote the progress report. In Oct, students were guided to possess pictures and edit word materials. In Nov, the teachers and students together made website.
Our sound bite :
We have got a better knowledge of the Daughter Festival and Phoenix Boat Race. The activity has enhanced our teamwork spirit and improved our communicating and interpersonal abilities. We have learnt a lot about communication with others. Although the process of research is harsh, we know that there is no harvest without sowing. The sweet fruit comes only with hard work. We have also gained the valuable experiences of interacting with others; this ability will be a long-life benefit for us.
