First interview
In the last day of summer vacation, our teacher asked us to make interview in the training place of phoenix boat race. We prepared to write the questions on our notebook. It was our first time to be journalists. We were so excited.
Interview Mr. Chen
During the coach’s rest, Qiao Xian-ming, our team member, firstly asked the question.
Q:Mr. Chen, may I ask you some questions?
A: Sure.
Q: Would you please introduce the origin of phoenix boat race?
A: Guanyuan phoenix boat was originated in Tang Dynasty, to memorize the only female king in our county, Ms. Wu Ze-tian.
Q: what are the main regulations of phoenix boat race?
A: the regulation of phoenix boat race and dragon boat race is similar. The former features with female paddlers. The standard phoenix boat is equipped with phoenix head, tail, drummer, helmswoman and paddlers.
Q: how many members in a team?
A: well, each phoenix boat race team is combined with coach, drummer, helmswoman and 16 paddlers.
Though we had many question, the coach’s time was limited. And his team members were waiting for the training program, we had to keep the questions in mind.
Interview Mr. Zhang
Another team was resting. We continued our questions.
Q: Mr. Zhang, may I ask you some questions?
A: sure.
Q: what is the equipment in the phoenix boat race?
A: there are boat, paddle, helms, and drum.
Q: do athletes’ only have skill training everyday?
A: no, the training program contains skill, physical, mental and strategy training.
Q: in the phoenix boat race, are athletes’ age similar to us ?
A: yes, the phoenix boat race is divided into four groups. 1girl’s group: the participants should be less than 16 years old. 2 young women’s group: the participants should be less than 18 years old. 3 adult women’s group: the participants should be less than 40 years old. 4 senior women’s group: the participants should be older than 40 years old. The boys can’t participate in the race.
What’ more, Mr. Zhang introduce the form and category of phoenix boat race. (Due to the error of computer, our photo missed and we use another one.)

Q: May I ask you some questions?
A: yes.
Q: are you tired?
A: yes. Our buns were frazzled and all of us have blains on the feet as long time dipping in the water. Though we hae much difficulty, we insisted to the end.
Q: could you tell us some interesting stories during our training program?
A: In order to make the training program interesting, team members always made jokes with the coach, pushing him into the water. The coach did the same thing to them.
Q: what’s your schedule?
A: 6:00-7:30 physical training
8:30-11:30 skill training on boat
15:00-18:00 skill training on boat
