Zhangyi Middle School is located 30 km to the southwest Yuanzhou District in the Guyuan City of Ningxia, where conditions are rough, economic development is slow and natural calamity is incessant and numerous. It is one of Guyuan’s poorest village. Zhangyi Middle School is the only formal high school in area of 30 square kilometers. There are 1,799 students, 21 middle classes and 6 senior high classes. The classrooms and teaching equipments are worn out and the lack of books and lab apparatus make it hard to address the demands of teaching. The present reading room is built under the aid of education volunteers, Japanese friends, society and by self-financing. But most of the books there are out of date and hard to meet the needs of the teachers and students.

Note: Although limited to the tough teaching condition, the lack of teachers------only 53 formal teachers and insufficient lab apparatus-----chemical experiment can’t be demonstrated in class, the school, led by Mr. Li Qiang, the headmaster, overcoming these difficulties and never giving up, has become the excellent member school of Town and Talent in Ningxia area. After learning about the Public Reading project, Mr. Li Qiang made application immediately, and put needing information on the website of the school. He hopes the project can do help for the problem of insufficient books and 1,800 students can find the books suitable for them.
