In 1947, the Mamenxi dinosaurs fossil that unearthed in Haishi Bay, Honggu District was one of China’s first discovered dinosaur fossils, which was about 1.6 billion years ago and was the dinosaur with longest neck and was the world’s second and Asia's largest in size, now it was collected in China Ancient Animal museum. Thanks to the carrier of Mamenxi dinosaurs, the Honggu district actively protected and developed the dinosaur culture and created a special cultural tourism brand. In 2000, Honggu District built Hualong square, and built the sculpture of Mamenxi dinosaur in the square, which was 20 meters in length and 12 meters in height and with a beautiful look and has become the landmark of Honggu District. While protecting the site, the Honggu district also focused on promotion and improved the awareness of Mamenxi dinosaurs in the country, and planned to build a museum of ancient creature fossils, to display the unearthed fossil. |
