Hide Embroidery of Dan Geer-An Art Treasure of the Intangible Cultural Heritage
To make the Hide Embroidery-a handicraft,is to reembroider all kinds of hide.As a folk handicraft,it is of a history of over one thousand years,and it is a unique in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,ingenious as well.
Hide Embroidery is of a long history.The native ancients-Qiangs,used sheepskin and hide rope to reembroider their clothing、boots and caps made of leather with simple primitive totem symbols for decoration or worship use.Afterwards,the Hide Embroidery,undergoing long process of development-cultural exchange with a variety of nations,gradually mixed the embroidery stitches throughout north and south,forming simple and graceful artistic style、profuse contents、complex materials and fine craft.
The Dan Geer Hide Embroidery became riper in Ming and Qing Dynasty,and even its related artwork emerged,whose contents included landscapes、birds and flowers、figures and religion with the embroidery stitches from the north and south merged.
For history and many other reasons,the Dan Geer Hide Embroidery is in danger of dying out.Therefore,its excavation、protection and continuation are of great significance.
In recent years,under the protection the improvement carried out by some folk and skillful craftsmen,a collection of products were brightly launched. |
