Visited the over thousand years old ancient temple, admiring Chinese culture
In these over ten days, I have successively been to Linjiang ancient temple four times. Setting out from Cangxi County, I passed through Jialingjiang River Bridge and made a right turn, after less than one kilometer's way, I arrived at Linjiang temple, the ancient temple opposite the county.
What surrounded Linjiang were mountain and river, and the mountain was covered by lush bamboos and ancient trees. Entering the gate, we ascent the stairs from the left cliff, made a west turn and arrived the second floor of the temple. In the middle of this floor was Ciyun Pavilion, in which there seated the figure of the Bodhisattva Guanyin, and on both of whose sides seated Linggongdian Hall, Sangongdian Hall. In front of the hall, the stone gallery was a winding path leading to a secluded place suggesting that we had to bow down our heads. After that, we started our trip from another direction that we passed through Daguan Pavilion inscribed with words of overlooking the landscape and through the stone arch inscribed the words of a place of unique beauty, followed by zigzagging down the stone pavement, finally we arrived the yard of the temple. Looking around in the yard, we found that right below the center of Ciyun Pavilion was Weituodian Hall. In the sun, the words of "The first building in Jialing" inscribed on the plaque of the hall's gate were eyes-catching, and the words on both sides of the stone gate were "Fairy Cave House", also very shining. Thick and rich burning incense came into our view, now secluded and tranquil, now full of sounds of firecrackers.
We were surprised to find that the whole Linjiang temple was all chiseled out, including its halls, floors, galleries, paths and the Buddha figures, plaques and inscriptions. It was actually a huge cliff in the past. From the Ming Dynasty, people started to chisel caves to worship the Buddha. However, it once was prosperous in history. In Tang and Song Dynasties, this ferry was the important way and an ancient bridle-road connecting Cangxi with Jiange. The ferries were like shuttles, passers by were like weaving, and the scenery was quite splendid and beautiful.
And what made this little ferry fell most proud of was two famous poets have visited here. In late fall of the first year of Guande emperor, Du Fu, the poem saga in Tang Dynasty stayed in Langzhou now is Langzhong, during his stay there, he once saw off his guests to Cangxi and paid a visit to Linjiang ferry, composing the famous poems that well-known by Cangxi people. To commemorate Du Fu's visit to Linjiang ferry, the futurity built a monument inscribed "Du Shaoling of Tang Dynasty saw off his guests here" and built a farewell pavilion. In the eighth year of Qiandao Emperor, Lu You, a patriotic poet in the Southern Song Dynasty visited the farewell pavilion. During the time of The Jin People's overpowering invade, at the invitation of the solider and Sichuan commissioner Wang Yan who fought against the invaders, Lu You attended the commissioner department set up in South Zheng, now is Hanzhong in Shaanxi, a place in the front line of fighting against the Jin People. So he took the way from Kuizhou now is Fengjie to South Zheng, when passing by Cangxi, he visited the farewell pavilion and paid a remembrance for Du Fu.
This was the beautiful and tranquil Linjiang ancient temple. The web pages making was about to be finished, but the distinctive landscape of the chiseled ancient temple, Linjiang ancient temple still lingered in my mind, recalling its thick and profound historical culture.
