Origin of Guangyuan Daughter’s Festival
It’s said that in Tang Dynasty, Wu Zetian’s mother was pregnant in Guangyuan, and gave birth to baby in Feb 23 in lunar calendar. Thus, in each Feb 23, women visited Shengze Temple, Zetianba and Jialing River. In 1988, Guangyuan government named the festival in Sep 1 as Daughter’s Day.
Celebration
The celebration of Guangyuan International Daughter Festival lasted from Sep 1 to 3, 2007. the main activities contained the startup, Phoenix Boat Festival, tourist presentation, trade and investment promotion and folk culture performance. In the International Phoenix Boat Festival, as many as 23 team participated in the competition, among which three teams came from other countries. In Sep 1, the cultural performance of Daughter’s Festival was held in Lizhou Square. In trade and investment promotion, 2007 autumn automobile presentation, and sports commodity show was held.
