General introduction
Guangyuan city is located in north Sichuan, on the juncture of Sichuan, Sanxi and Ganshu. Historically, it has always enjoyed the reputation of being "vital communication line between Qin and Shu", "ca pital of river and land", "the country of collecting all kinds of products from four directions" and "key county of north Sichuan". The population of Guangyuan is as many as 3.04 million, in which the rural residents amount to 527,300. Guangyuan has three districts (Shizhong, Yuanba, Chatian), four counties (Qingchuan, Wangcang, Cangxi and Jiange), 93 town, and 2497 villages. Guangyuan's economy is based on a diverse array of heavy industry, as well as mining and agriculture. It is an ancient city, notable for its relics and tombs. The Han people are major residents, together with Hui, Tibetan, Man , Qiang, Miao, Zhuang, Bai, Mongolian, Buyi, and Tu ethnic groups.
Future
In the next five years, with the implementation of the Great Strategy of Developing Western Region of China launched by China central government and the acceleration of economic globalization, Guangyuan enjoys a rapid economic growth and overall social progress. Guangyuan is endowed with hydropower and mineral resources. Reserves of 11 kinds of rare metals including vanadium and titanium enjoy a leading position in China even in the world. It also boasts as many as 4,500-odd herbal medicines and affluent animal and plant resources. Guangyuan authorities recently have made out a comprehensive planning for the economic and social undertaking development in the coming 5 years. In accordance with the theme of “adhering to scientific approach to development, and building a harmonious Sichuan”, we formulated the strategy of 4 Shifts aiming at speeding up the development of agriculture, industry, tourism and cultural industry. Keeping in mind the governing concept of attaching great importance to democracy and giving top priority to the interest of the people, we treat reform, opening up and innovation as the fundamental driving force for development, so as to realize robust and rapid economic growth, and push forward the overall progress of various social undertakings. We will actively open up wider to the outside, with the aim to establish a multi-directional, various-level, and wide-range opening pattern.
