The old site of the general headquarter of the fourth Red Army was located on the 8th Wen Temple Street, Nuojiang County, Tongjiang Town. The former site of it was the former Sitong River Temple, which was built in the seventh year of Jiayou in Song dynasty.
In July 1980, it was announced by Sichuan Provincial People's Government as provincial heritage conservation unit. In 1982, it was open up as Military History museum of Chuan-Shan Revolutionary Base Area. In 1992, it was renamed as the fourth Red Army headquarters’ old site Memorial Hall. In 1993, the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin inscribed the name of the museum. In 2005, it was listed as one of the national one hundred "red tourism" classic scenic spots by the state. From 1999 to 2002, approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage it was carried out a comprehensive maintenance.
