Procedures of making black pots
Firstly, the selection of the earth is very important. The main material is the fine red clay from Ningxia. |

In the second step, mix the red clay with water and mud. Then put them in a container with a piece of plastic on the top of the container to keep the moisture. |

In the third step, put the clay mixture on the wheel to build the shape of the pot, while putting some water on the mixture. When the clay is made into a general shape, then improve on the pot in details. |

After the building of the shape, the clay is still very soft, so it should be put aside to cool then it can be polished and carved. |

In the last step, the pot should be baked in the pit for two to fifteen days. The longer the time is and the higher the temperature (900 – 1300) is, the higher the quality of the pot is. |
