The old Guide County which has 600 years of history was built during the year of Hongwu 13th ( AD 1380 ) , and was modified in the year of Wanli 18th, with basic wall well preserved until now. Architectural complex inside the city-walls was built during the Wanli, and also was rebuilt and enlarged by Daoguang and Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty to form the today's size which covers about 35000 square meters and 3060 square meters for construction area.
Civil Temple is in the eastern part, which is consecrated to Confucius, the great educator and thinker of ancient China . Guan Yue Temple , also called Matsu Temple or Military Temple , which is consecrated to Guan Yu, Yue Fei and Mastu, who are three commonly known statues. Wanshou Taoist Temple , or Yuhuang Attic, is dedicated to the Great Emperor and all shrines of Wenchang. Buddhist Temple , the Chenghuang Temple and Library are in the western part, hoping to be protected and rebuilt.
According to Yuhuang Attic Monument , Yuhuang Attic was built in the year of Wangli 12th in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1592), rammed earth as the basic, bricks as the appearance, and three-floor-attic on top. Inside there is a direct access to the top, 28 meters high. The carved beams and painted rafter and half-arch cornice all represent artistic achievements of ancient architecture.
The old Guide County, whose architectural complex as well as in Yuhuang Attic, is of large-scale, long history, different architectural styles, dedicated woodcarvings and valuable murals which indicate a higher level of architectural art and tourism value. It is one of the provincial cultural relics protection units.
