Since Xihan Dynasty Dan Geer had become a vital economical center.The Tang Dynasty and Tibet established the first Tea-Horse Trade Market in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.In the middle and late period of Qing Dynasty,it was moved to Dan Geer,becoming the largest trade center in northwestern China.Traders and workmen from Beijing、Tianjin、Shanxi、Shaanxi and Gansu all poured in and some foreign merchants from Britain、the US、Russia and Germany all started to develop their business and trade,while forming the "Zangke"(traders in charge of commodity transaction along the Tang Bo ancient course) with footprints all over Tibet、Xinjiang、Gansu、Shaanxi、Shanxi、Hebei、Tianjin、India and Nepal opening up the road of Tibetan traders.
   In 1924 the business and trade peaked-over 1,000 handicraft industry and businesses of all sizes containing over 5,000 practitioners with a total trade of over 5 million taels of silver.
   The Dan Geer ancient city was not only a vital economical center,but also a stronghold of military-once with over 100 troops and 20 military institutions.
   The Dan Geer ancient city was also a sacred site.It was named after Dong Keer-a renowned monastery of the tibetan buddhism enjoying a widespread reputation both in Qinghai and Tibet,which had the Confucian Thought-cored Han culture、the Tibetan Buddhism-cored Tibetan culture and the Islam-cored Hui culture shown incisively and vividly.
   Dan Geer is also a cultural city with many folk arts like celebrity Poems、myths、legends、bank lights、paper cuts、folk art forms、sheepskin embroidery and some traditional folk cultural activities like "Huaer"、mountain congregation、temple fair、Confucius sacrifice and sea sacrifice left.
