On the morning of December 12 in 2007, under the guidance of our teacher, we go to hold an interview with the experts in Gansu Desert Research Institute which has made creative contributions to harnessing of the sand in our country and even in the whole world. The head Mr. Wang is the expert is this aspect, but he is not in, so we interview another expert Mr. Ji who is in charge of technology in the institute. He briefly introduces the history and current situation of the harnessing of the sand in Gansu Province and Wuwei. He thinks the traditional concept of the prevention and harnessing of the sand should be changed. The important point of the prevention and harnessing of the sand in Wuwei lies in the comprehensive harnessing of Shiyang River valley. We should make best use of the water and organize an institution of higher level to operate the harnessing. Some green belts should be built in protect the environment and some plants in the sand should be grown such as cotton and lucerne. All the people should coordinate and cooperate with each other to solve the problems from systematic perspective. Some rules and regulations should also be made about the prevention and harnessing of the sand.
