In November 26, 2007, Mr. Qi guides us to hold an interview with Mr. Xu who is the vice of Liangzhou District in charge of agriculture. It is the first time for us to interview leaders, so we feel rather nervous. When he warmly welcomes us, we feel a little relaxed. He encourages us to ask him questions. Chen Guokun asks the first question of the current situation of the sand in Wuwei. He tells us it is the worst place destroyed by the sand in our country. The dry climate and heavy storm make the ecological environment rather vulnerable. Both of the harnessing and damage should be operated and controlled. Protecting the oasis in Wuwei is of great importance. All the people should try their best. Then Zhuang Siqin asks the second question of the significance of harnessing the sand. Mr. Xu tells us it is significant in several aspects. It has close relationship not only with the safety and people and property, but also with the living standards and environment of the people. In the first place, the harnessing of the sand can improve the ecological environment. only by that, can human beings and nature live together harmoniously. In the second place, the harnessing of the sand can guarantee the safety of the territory of our country. In the third place, the harnessing of the sand can improve people's life. Then Zhang Jianrui asks Mr. Xu about the methods in harnessing the sand. He tells us there are mainly four aspects. The first is that we should make scientific plans. We should combine the harnessing of the sand with the saving of water and improving of the agricultural and industrial structures. We should adopt a series of measures to harness the sand as well as save the water. The second aspect is that we should harness the sand by different projects which are the basis in the harnessing of the sand. More money and labor will be put in these projects to guarantee the quality of the projects. The third aspect is on the comprehensive harnessing of the sand. The prevention as well as the harnessing should be operated. The human harnessing as well as the natural recovery should be combined. Different kinds of industry will be developed to harness the sand as well as to improve the living standards of the people.
