Guard the sunshine casting on the left-behind children
Today, the left-behind children have been labeled with the derogatory words such as being ignorant and incompetent, idling about and being unscrupulous. However, do all the left-behind students behave in these ways?
Xiao Hui and Xiao Ying are brother and sister, also the left-behind students same as many peer students. Their parents went out for work when Xiao Hui was only in grade six. So they lived with the grandfather. In the past seven years their parents only came back home once. Different from other students idled about, they are excellent in both characters and learning, are well known as genius brother and sister in the whole school.
In this June, on the report list of the college entrance examination, Xiao Hui's name was brightly ranked on the first place. He received the letter of admission from Chongqing University with great hilarity, and in great excitement, informed his parents far away about this good news.
Hearing it, his parents came back home at the most fast speed with great elation. Many other families will hold a banquet dinner lasting three days and nights, welcoming friends and guests to celebrate their children's admission into college, even just into a third-rate college. Different from these families, Xiao Hui's family only invited several closed relatives and had a simple but delicious and delightful dinner. Many friends and relatives were confused and thought they were too stingy, or afraid of losing face because they did not earn a big money back, or some directly went to ask personally. |

Xiao Hui's parents told us that, "in these years we worked very hard and did save some money. But it is obvious too extravagant if we hold a banquet to invite many friends and guests just because of Xiao Hui has been enrolled in a famous university. Besides, as parents, it is our duty to teach them to be hardworking and thrifty and modest. On the contrary, if we do that for him, he may probably become too proud on the applause and then become conceited and arrogant, which will undoubtedly is not a good example for his younger sister." We nodded as consent when we were listening.
One day, at the invitation of Xiao Hui and Xiao Ying, we went to play with them at their home and received their whole family's hospitality. When we were about to ask their parents how did they educate well on their children, a neighbor came to ask for advice from them for the former wanted to send his child to study in a well-known university. (Xiao Hui and Xiao Ying's parents run over a dozen of vegetable plants in a small town in He'nan province). In those times, we have never been to a restaurant for we often cooked by ourselves, and most of the time it was them cook the dinner for us."
"How come they will behave like this, so hardworking and positive?"
"Witnessing our hard life and putting this down into diaries, they would truly understand us, as they were experiencing the same difficulties as we did. So we did that just for that they could cherish what they have gained, would be aggressive and keep in mind that gains will come right after pains. Otherwise, if we afford them to enjoy the happy life in advance, they will never know what is ambition and hard work……"
Hearing these, that neighbor felt a shame and lowered his head, and seemed to realize something...
Same as any other left-behind children, as long as parents offer correct guidance and education on their children, and all of these positive ways, if conducted in a normalized way and the students have been imbued and inspired, we believe, those left-behind student will keep healthy, positive, hardworking and aggressive.
In this country, children being left behind cannot escape this destiny as the passed time is bygone, the most we can do is let us guard well the bright sun casting over those left-behind students. |
